If you read the letters to the editor in the Pogo letters to the editor, you will see there is a glitch in the scoring that slows down rank progress a lot.

It might make sense to work on another game until they fix the glitch.

Keep in mind too that, at the Fastest play speed, you will really stand out. If you slow it down to the Regular play speed, you will look more like a really good player. Use Slow or Slowest if you do not want to make your friends suspicious.

Fidget asked in a private email what speed settings I would recommend.

It would depend on what I was doing.

Rank Badges
=========
For earning the rank badges, I would find an empty temporary room, set the play speed on Regular and let it run.

If I notice someone using a fast cheat joins me, I would move to another room because running on Fast or Fastest to compete will give suspicious statistics. It avoids friends who don't know about cheats asking: "How did you get over 5000 game points?!?" Sure you can answer: "It must be a glitch; I don't remember ever scoring that high." But if you have those sorts of friends, why create the issue in the first place?

At the Regular play speed, if a human player come in, you will probably win most rounds and get just as many rank tickets as if you were alone without scoring so high as to anger anyone.

Chatting with Friends
================
For chatting with a friend or relative who doesn't use cheats, I would probably use the Slowest or Slow play speeds to give them a chance to win.

If I wanted to chat with a cheating friend, I would use whatever play speed my friend wanted to use or a slower play speed to let my friend win.

Tokens or Showing Off
=================
For maximizing points and tokens or for showing off to cheating friends, I would use the fastest play speed. I wouldn't do this without keeping an eye on things though. And I wouldn't do this if I had friends who don't know I cheat.

For showing off to non-cheating friends, Regular will do.

If I were going for tokens, I would probably pick an empty room and leave if anyone comes in.

If I were showing off, I would find a room already full of cheaters and beat them with the Fastest play speed. If the other cheaters left, I would leave too.

The last thing you want to do is score over 1700 on the Clam Slam or over 1100 in the Squid Squash in a full room where nobody else can score over 900 or 600 respectively. Somebody will get angry and start handing out pitchforks and torches.
